Question - (7 September 2016) 4 Answers - (Newest, 8 September 2016)
A female United States age 30-35, *nonem writes:

I wrote an article for an international blog and i was commended on my work. I remained anonymous though; and its still grossingba lot of views.

I have always wanted to write but even with this i still dont believe i am a good writer even though about 80 percent comments were positive. What kind of push can i possible need to go out there and do something?

I majored in science because my teacher wanted me too. I was very brilliant in school but i know my heart had always been art. A blind choice id have to live with for the rest of my life. I am intimidated by the already established writers outthere. I am my own demon.

A male reader, no nonsense Aidan United Kingdom +, writes (8 September 2016):

In an Internet and social media age, it's as easy as the click of a few buttons to set up your own free blog: I have got one. Get writing and learn how to take advantage of platforms like Twitter to promote your work. This will serve as a body of evidence if you apply for jobs or freelance work.

Work on technique: book on to courses and workshops. Which writers do you most like? Read their work carefully and work out what makes it effective.

Reach out to writers and publications that you like: ask for tips and advice, suggestions for next steps and maybe a critique of your work. Don't let good writers deter you but learn from them.

Last, look for writing clubs and volunteering opportunities.

You feel overwhelmed and stuck because you have no plan. It's time to make one and work at it.

I wish you all the very best.

A female reader, anonymous, writes (8 September 2016):

I'm in a similar boat. Got a science degree knowing my heart is in writing. It's a decision I made and I have to own it. Doesn't mean I've given up writing.

I've joined a writer's group and enter conpetitions. I've got a novel manuscript I'm finishing up. If you want it badly enough, you just have to go for it. Joining a group is good motivation. You could try that

A female reader, aunt honesty Ireland +, writes (8 September 2016):

aunt honesty agony auntYeah it sounds like you are your own demon, what is it that is holding you back? What are you afraid of? Look you might not think you are good, but other might so why not just go for it, you have nothing to lose, and a whole new dream to gain. Forget about the negative people and focus on the positive people, the people who will read your articles and blogs. Everyone has to start somewhere, nobody expects you to be perfect from the word go but practice will ensure you go along way, don't remain anonymous, let the whole world know who you are.
