Ok Tampons are a bit weird at first. I had a hard time at first also, but after timje I got used to them. Bottom line pads are SOOO gross. Yea sweetie it hurts at first but its not the end of the world. The tiny opening you are taking about may be your cherry if your a virgin. My cherry actually never broke from tampons. Buy some lubricant like KY Jelly and use the plastic applicator tampons. I always start with the slim ones and if your flow is heavy it helps too. If you use the smaller ones you may have to change them more than the big ones. You can also try to to put a finger insde your vagina with lube on it first. Once you get opened up a bit it will help. Squat straight down so your butt is near the floor when you put the tampon in. You can also try to stimulate yourself a bit if you don't want to buy the KY Jelly. I know that sound gross but believe me it works and gets rid of cramps too! The pill willl regulate your period but you need to have a regular period.

I cant wear tampons either.

I have a very small opening I think.

I want to go to the doctors for it but I dont want to tell my mom that.

And plus i think even talking about ti to my doctor is weird.

I hate using pads. there discusting.

Unfortunatly every time i try using tamons it hurts really bad.

I wish I could help... but my problem seems to be the same...

try applicators! that way you can just insert the applicator in and you KNOW that the tampon is there and will stay put!

Dont go all out and wear tampons just for him! If your over the age of 15 then your plenty old enough to do what you want!If you really want to wear tampons then relaxe and buy either light or regular tampons. If you really have too,wet yourself whn you go to the bathroom or buy sanitary wipes to use before use!I hope this helps you,it helped my sis but im only 13 so im not aloud to wear tampons so i dont really no,its just advice from her but i hope it helps you!!!!

Don't feel bad. I have the same problem. My boyfriend knows about it, too. And if your boyfriend really likes you, he isn't going to say anything about you wearing a pad because a lot of chicks can't wear tampons, including me.

A female reader, TygersDream Malaysia +, writes (10 February 2007):

TygersDream agony auntAs for tampons, TasteofIndia's advice is good. If you're doubly afraid of leakage, you can just wear a panty liner with a tampon.

I noticed wearing fitted (DARK) pants, fitted panties with ultra slim pads made me feel confident. The tight pants keep the pad in place so it's not swishing around. (Of course, LOOK in the mirror first before you go out and ask your mom or friend for their opinions)

If you have time, you can try all the pads in the market out there. I think Laurier has a winged heavy/normal flow ULTRA SLIM pad out there. It's REally thin. When it's folded it's about as thick as three coins stacked on top of each other. And if you're only going out for a few hours, it's fine.

Good luck on your date!

TasteofIndia agony auntHey girl.

As for the tampons, let me ask you something (and this may seem gross). Can you put your finger in yourself? If you never have, that might be a good way to practice. Then, when you get around to putting a tampon in, get the kind with the plastic applicator (I like the Tampax Pearl kind) - and get the slim fit. When you do put in a tampon, do it right after you pee or when you're bleeding a little bit, so it has some lubrication to slip in on.

Even I can't put in a tampon when I'm completely dry. OW!!

Otherwise, I'd suggest getting the slim pads - not the big ones that feel like diapers. If you have the slimmer ones on, boys really can't notice at all.

Good luck on your date, sweetie!

A female reader, cd206 United Kingdom +, writes (10 February 2007):

cd206 agony auntYou can only start taking the pill on the first day of your period. It's possible to delay a period before it starts but not stop it during. Your boyfriend won't be able to tell whether you're wearing a pad or tampon unless you're planning on getting naked and since you said you're out with him I doubt this is on the agenda. Don't stress about it. Boys are equally scared by pads and tampons, trust me. It's not an issue to them.

A female reader, AskEve United Kingdom +, writes (10 February 2007):

AskEve agony auntNo, I wouldn't take the pill just for that, it will upset your system. There are pads you can buy now that are very slim but very effective. Have you tried the tampons with the applicator? They are much easier to use than tampons without one. Most of the time we imagine they can "see" the pad but they really can't, it's all in our head.

If you really can't wear tempons then buy the slim pads for "heavy flow". They are very effective and you wouldn't even know you're wearing one. Trust me! Then just go out and enjoy your date.
