Why do you want to be a trophy wife? Think of it this way, do you want to just stands there acting all goody goody and pretty catching dust and cobwebs and has no opinion or thoughts of her own? Eww...here's what I think the criteria of being a wife should have first...

I think the best thing first off is to love who you are deep inside. You are made of the same chemical compounds as everyone else is on this planet but who we are is made up from how react to things and situations in and all around us, and to those around us. How compassionate and caring and loving to forgiving and respecting others all around. You must also be confident in who you are, be graceful and compassionate. You've also got to be patient, witty, and you've got to work at the relationship (and of course so does he) and that means you must both have the same common goals for the marriage.

A wife is someone that stands by her man - like when you say those vows in front of the pastor/priest/judge and all your family and friends and importantly to God. "For better or for worse, in sickness and in health...till death do us part". Don't be selfish or stand-offish. There's nothing like a spouse who just doesn't seem so personable and considerate and down to earth. You've got to be down to earth my friend.

A trophy wife is not a catch or an ideal wife...an ideal wife is someone who stands by her man with love and respect and admiration and and passion and the husband does vice versa. You work as a team and respect the others' ideas and thoughts and opinions. This person should also be your best friend and lover.

A female reader, celtic_tiger United Kingdom +, writes (5 February 2011):

celtic_tiger agony auntA trophy wife is essentially something to look pretty and to make other men jealous.

They are there to look good, nothing else, and as walkindude says, keep their mouth shut. Nothing to do with being a wonderful wife, or mother. In fact a trophy wife will probably never be a mother - because that would ruin her looks and body, the whole point of a trophy wife.

A bit like having an expensive flashy car or a rolex.

Trophy wives usually are considered to be gold diggers, marrying much older, wealthy men purely for financial gain.

Yeah, a trophy wife isn't a good thing. Think about what a "trophy" is. It's a prize that he won that sits on the shelf and is only taken down in order to brag to his friends.

DanceInTheDark agony auntIt's about looks. Basically your only value to your husband is that your hot.

You're just arm candy. Nobody will say "Oh she's such a wonderful wife and mom" it'll just be "She's hot."

It's sad that being a hot wife is more valued than being a wonderful wife and mom.

Are you asking because you want to be one?

Basically, you stand there looking pretty and keeping your mouth shut. It's about showing you off to other people, like a status symbol.

Not a good thing in my opinion.
