writes:My boyfriend has recently started using the same nickname I used to call my ex when we were going out. My ex and I ended on extremely bad terms so it's really weird to hear that nickname used towards ME and be reminded of him. Is there any way I can somehow get my boyfriend to stop using that nickname for me without explaining the real reason I don't like it?

 Just tell him you don't like it and suggest one you'd prefer more. You don't have to explain why.

If he's considerate of your feelings, which I am sure he is, he should understand this and become creative and come up with a new one :)

 If you simply tell him that you are not too fond of that nickname, he should stop, reason or no, he should find that there is no point in giving a girlfriend a nickname she hates. If he asks and is adamant in finding the reason why, just tell him that you would rather not talk about it. That would let him know that it is serious.
