A female United Kingdom age 41-50, *nneedofattention writes:

i go out with this guy who i thought id really like. i had fancied him for ages as he's really gorgeous and kind. about a year ago we started dating. at first it was absolutely fantastic and the sex was the best ive ever had, but about six months into our relationship things started to change. when we talk if i say the wrong thing he will totally over react about it and ignore me for ages. he will then demand that i wash his feet with dettol as ive infected his body with my behaviour towards him. he basically treats me like a child instead of the 26 year adult i am and it really annoys me. i hate it with the foot washing, for some reason it gives him a sense of control.

plese help me.

A female reader, Tremor Australia +, writes (30 May 2008):

Tremor agony auntHe sounds like a controlling bastard.

Who makes their partner wash their feet? As you say, it seems like that whole business is about having control and power over you, and that isn't healthy.

A relationship should be love between equals, and not a case of one partner being 'in charge'. From what you describe, it seems like he does not have the respect for you that he should have.

I'd advise you to leave him now, before he decides to push his luck. Find a man who will listen to what you have to say, who can wash his own feet, and who will treat you the way a lady should be treated.

Good luck!
