A female United Kingdom age 30-35, anonymous writes:

I have a male friend who I get on with really well. We like the same authors, we like the same music and when we're together we just "click". Really fancy him but I've never told him. Recently his grandmother died so I have been giving him some space just to deal with it in his own way. Then last night, he text me at 2am saying he couldn't sleep. So I text back and asked how he was doing etc. He text back saying he was "okish". He asked how I was, said he was glad i was doing so well and just chatted with me for about an hour. His texts were very warm. What does it mean when a guy can't get to sleep and you're the first person he texts?

Then this morning, I text him to see how he was feeling and he said he felt "hungover" meaning he was druk last night. He also said thnaks for chatting and put a winking a smiley at the end.

What does it all mean?

Could mean something, but then again it could easily not.

On one hand, he could fancy you as you have fancied him.

On another, he could be emotionally vulnerable after the death and reaching out to a good female friend for reassurance.

And on a miraculously appearing third hand (!), he could've just wanted to chat to someone for a while.

From the info you've given, it could legitimately any of the three. If you were to give more, I may be able to analyse it a bit more, but otherwise there's not much I can say either way. What seems most likely given your circumstances? And be honest with yourself, give an objective view, not the view you wish to follow.

Give him time then perhaps start to drop a couple of flirty texts (though I'd say at first include the word 'lol' or equivalent in them, in case he's like 'Eh what are you doing?' and you can say you're just kidding to avoid spoiling the friendship), if he responds then maybe follow it on with a view to letting him know how you feel.

But he's a lad and unless he's a particularly shy lad, you always have to be wary that he might have made the move sooner if he was interested in pursuing things further. So be prepared just in case.

I think he def likes you! :)

Although he may of been drinking when he texted you, I think he still texted you cause he liked you, not cause he was drunk.

I was once in this situtation. After a night of chatting and laughing with a friend, she told me she was tired. Before we ended the call, she said thanks for keeping her company and that she LOVED me. I spent the entire morning wondering if I had heard right, and decided to confront her. However, she told me "I say a lot of silly things when I am tired" and things became awkward, constantly wondering if she was covering it up and praying that I hadn't damaged our friendship.

My advice: Don't dive head first - Wait and see if it continues, of maybe he will make the first move.

It does mean he thought of you first but sometimes you think of someone to help you with what is at hand! The one piece of advice i would give is to read thing positively! if you look for negatives in thing you put more questions in your head and complicate things more! Be there for him now and when you feel the time is right test the water! not with a big move but if he feels something for you he will pick up on it and react! But always make possitive moves and be positive about yourself! make him know that it is he who is lucky to be with you and not the other way round! people are drawn to confidence!
