He acted as if he liked me, now all of a sudden he's being cold, I wonder why?

There is a guy I know that had a crush on me back when we were kids... we've crossed paths now and again throughout our lives, and as it turns out, i am now close to his mother, so i see him more frequently. lately he's been saying things like "I think we're soulmates, our lives just keep intertwining" and "If you would sing to me I would put a ring on your finger so fast" (because I'm a singer) and most recently, while attending my church for the first time, someone asked us if we knew eachother and he said "we go way back. I tried to kiss her in grade 3 and now I'm jumping through hoops to try to get the chance to do it again." (by hoops i think he means coming to my church) and that was only a matter of days ago! So after that last comment he made i was pretty certain he liked me to say the least. but now all of a sudden he's being cold, and ignoring me. what the heck is that? he wont even talk to me on msn all of a sudden.
