 Most women who need to wean themselves off don't just stop using it full-stop, they get themselves very close with the vibrator, then finish with fingers. Then get themselves less close each time and rely more on fingers, and then eventually stop using the vibrator.

You do have to "retrain" your body to receive is vigorous gratification.
I would compare it to a guy who is SO used to his right/left hand that he can't keep an erection when having penetrative intercourse because the "grip" of the vagina is not as tight as a fist. It takes so abstaining from that as well.
