Hi DC,

Just a general post from something that I saw on TV the other nite about a couple who reunited after 40yrs apart (leaving thier respective partners/families)

Do you always have a thing for your 1st love? Is the expression "1st Love never dies true?"

Has anyone married thier 1st love or got back together with thiers after many yrs apart?

Would be interested to hear yr stories no matter how sad/funny they are

Cheers

Wow what a coincidence.. I've been wondering that too for a while because I've been thinking about my first bf a lot lately. We broke up earlier this year and now I'm going out with another guy, but I can't stop thinking "what if?" We both have changed a lot since then and have even talked about the past. I was also his first gf and he also admitted that he still had feelings for me even though he too is currently with someone else but idk whether it is the "first love" thing or the fact that we are unable to put the past behind us...

CindyCares agony auntHeck no ! My first love is still handsome, as he was then, and he has also become very rich ( he was not ). Other than that, he is the summary of any personality trait that I find insufferable. I always wonder : WTF was I thinking way back then ???

DenimandLace44 agony auntNo I don't. In fact when I happen to see him and his family somewhere I only feel relief that I didn't end up with him. He is a very nice person, but very boring. LOL

Obsessing over the past isn’t healthy. If it happen it happens; but there’s no formula to love.

That’s probably why it was on TV; it was just another quaint puzzle piece to the picture of love.

Tisha-1 agony auntI don't have a 'thing' for my first love. I'm actually glad to be out of that relationship, as it wasn't good for either of us. I look back with some fondness but I certainly would NEVER go back.

A female reader, anonymous, writes (5 October 2010):

That really depends...

To be quite honest, my first love was a total abusive douche bag. If I ever got back together with him, it would be because one of two things: 1. I've been taking drugs and have no idea what I'm doing. -OR- 2. A new (better) personality and approach to everything were injected into his brain.

In any case, I'm with the love of my life now so I don't care anymore.
