B/f says he's over his ex but I don't believe him!

A female United States age 30-35, *33 writes:

My bf and I have been dating for almost a month now. He says he is over his ex, but I doubt it. He's a really nice, sweet, caring guy but sometimes I feel like he lies to me. He still talks to his ex ( she has a boyfriend). They broke up about 2 weeks before we started dating (4 month relationship.) My boyfriend tells me he is very happy with me but she supposedly messaged him telling him that she misses him a lot and will wait for him. I don't know if I should worry or not. I really like my bf; he's really different than other guys i've been with... but I have trust issues.

A reader, anonymous, writes (5 October 2010):

His ex-girlfriend is meddling in his life. Talk to him about his ex staying in touch with him and telling him she'll wait for him and misses him; tell him how it makes you feel.

As long as he isn't messaging her back and telling her the same things, this doesn't seem like a problem with your boyfriend. It's more of a problem his ex has with being controlling, manipulative and meddling.
