 Hi, there is no harm in being open and honest. Atleast when you tell him how you feel you would no where you stand and the curiousity would not eat you up.If you tell him things might just turn out the way you woudl like them too.Just make sure that he does not have a gf and that he feels the same way (look out for signs).

it happened to me....We've also know eachother for 4 years; had a crush on eachother for 4 years before I let him clearly know the feelings I had for him.Our relationship now has progressed.Im not going to say I'm a total risk taker...oh no.
Are you willing to do what you have to do in order to get what you want?

 Do as Jamer says and take the Bull By the Horns and go for it. Choose a perfect moment for you both and just ask him, you may be pleasantly suprised buy his awswer.

 Well sometimes you have got go for it, and take the bull by the horns.
But if you are gonna tell him make sure you say something like "would it ruin our friendship if we dated" (dont have to be so blunt) but if your friendship is important make sure it is safe and have fun.
