PsyCookie agony auntI don't know if they have this in Australia, but school drop outs or those who didn't have enough points to graduate can get this special diploma called GED and it's almost equivalent to a highshool diploma.

But not having graduated from high school makes it harder to find a job since most jobs requires at least a high school diploma.

So far, I only know two people who have been successful and they didn't earn higher education diplomas. Let me tell you, though, that both men are incredibly smart and they got where they got through sweat and innovation.

One of these men is Steve Jobbs. He dropped out of college and many thought he would not succeed. He invented the Apple Computer and founded the Apple Corporation. And even though he was kicked out from his own company, he still found a way to rise from the bottom. He created Pixar.

The other man, I do not remember his name, but he dropped out of 9th grade because he wasn't doing well. Many teacher in fact thought he was very stupid, but in reality he had dyslexia. He is now working with NASA by finding ways to make better rockets. He even created a rocket for himself, for his personal amusement.

Paris Hilton never finished high school...haha. Finish school. Life isn't easy. The people that didn't finish school already had a great gift--either through persuasion or a great idea or are lucky. If you don't have a great talent--finish school. It sucks. Otherwise you'll end up making good money doing a laborous job, and I don't think anybody really wants to do that.

saltwater agony auntWell not having some qualifications makes things harder; but qualifications aren't the be all and end all of life.

Often getting some jobs is all about who you know, not what you know.

There is so much more to life than qualifications...yes, you should try your hardest in all exams or courses in school/college/uni or wherever...but don't get completely hung up about it.

Life's too short to worry about qualifications.

A reader, anonymous, writes (22 August 2008):

You can succeed in life but chances are harder. Even if you have a special talent such as singing, dancing or whatever that can be artistic or sports, it's no guarantee that you can become someone sucessful as a superstar or athelet, even those have to struggle.

The chances that someone with a proper education are much higher b/c they can survive in any qualified job that is required and the pay is better.

Don't worry if you fail, don't give up and continue your studies. Study things that can give you an opportunity to make an honest living, I mean yeah I wanted to become an astronaut but, my chances of doing a career as that were almost none compared with the ones I have in my Business Administration career.

Good Luck and keep it up!

A female reader, carol3232 United States +, writes (22 August 2008):

Well why are you going to fail senior year? I believe that you should try your hardest to pass your senior year and grauduating and concentrate in doing so. But if you were not to graduate from grade 12 there are other things you can do even though it will be difficult. You can take classes for real estate and get your lisence and you can work for the front desk for hotels even and maybe become manager once you have many years of experience. But the most important thing is that you should try to pass grade 12 becuase you dont want your future to be limited so dont give up, you want options in life.
