Am I a fool for hoping? What is the best way to regain his trust?

A female United Kingdom age 51-59, anonymous writes:

I am posting again as I am still not doing so well.

Thank you for your patience!

The man I was seeing was fed up with the way I treated him and told me that he got out of my 'era'.

Then he tells me that he wants to be a friend. Then I shout at him again and he tells me that I should clear my head before coming to him.

I have not seen him recently, but he texts me and I text him .

After a while I decided to stop texting him, because it seemed to me that he was only responding to my texts , not generating any contact himself.

So. He DOES text me himself.

I am very happy, and when he calls me , I tell him sweet love words (light, though) and tell him that I miss him.

I told him 'I miss the good parts of you'. So he asks 'Oh, so you Do admit that I have good parts'.

I tell him yes, I miss you my love, but I have to be careful not to go back to my nasty ways like before.

I asked him 'don't you miss me?' He said yes, of course, I miss you.

I told him , jokingly, 'don't betray me too much'. He said no don't worry.

After we hung up I REGRETTED being so easy with him. What if he is turned off?

If he has TRULY ended with me, why does he generate contact? I know that when men cut, they cut.

Am I a fool for hoping? What is the best way to regain his trust, and my credibility with him?

HOW would he have reacted had he NOT been interested?!
