Will I be able to meet a future girlfriend without relying on my work/occupation to find her?

A male United Kingdom age 36-40, anonymous writes:

I'm 22 at university and I'm currently doing a masters in Civil Engineering.

I've had 2 girlfriends before and after my last one I decided to concentrate on my exams and wait until I start working (after I've done a bit of travelling). ALthough because I'm in a male dominated industry, my chances of meeting a girl in business are slim.

My question is will I be able to meet a future girlfriend without relying on my work/occupation to find her?

k_c100 agony auntOf course there will be plenty of girls you can meet outside of work - as long as you put yourself out there.

Just a few examples for you:

1. You can always do the typical meet girls in clubs/bars - doesnt always work and can be a bit seedy but it works for a lot of people!

2. Take up other activities outside of work - say you enjoy running, then join a running club where you will meet a good mix of people including girls. Clubs & groups are great ways of meeting people with similar intrests to you which is always a good start!

3. Online dating - yes it still has a bit of a stigma around it but more and more people are doing it, and it is a great way to meet people who are definitely interested in a relationship and who are all (well most of them!) single. I know quite a few people (including myself) who have been succesful with online dating and met really great people.

So really meeting girls depends on how much you put yourself out there. If you just go to work and then home at night and just spend your evening in front of your TV then no, you will find it really hard to meet girls! But if you have hobbies/interests that you take part in actively, and if you are generally going out and doing things then I'm sure you will meet someone with time.

I hope this helps and good luck!

CindyCares agony aunt Strange question . Of course you can. Do you think everybody meets their partners at work ? Do you think that lawyers date only lawyers, teachers only teachers, doctors only doctors, zookeepers only zookeepers ?

Sorry OP, I don't mean to make fun of you- it's only that I can't figure out why do you feel you could not meet a gf just about anywhere.
