A male reader, anonymous, writes (22 May 2007):

It's what is sometimes called the "She's Too Easy" Complex. When it comes to relationships, people want to be challenged. They want to be able to "chase" the other person, and in a sense earn the right to sleep with them.

In my personal experience it has to do with the matter of emotional attachments. In differs among men and women. A woman is said to develop an emotional attachment by having sex. For men it's not the case. A man has to develop the emotional attachment before sex in order for it to exist. I feel that after the physical act has been committed, a man can no longer attach himself, because that physical has been established. This might sound a little confusing but I feel it makes some sense.

Finally, there is also the case where men have this social "obligation" among other men to sleep with as many females as he can. Thus women become a number and after sleeping with her once, she is no longer useful. She'll always be number 4, for instance, but never number 5, 6, or 7.

Farris agony auntI agree with the comments below, but I really want to stipulate that NOT ALL GUYS are just into girls for sex. There are guys that are after a relationship and commitment, but there are just the few that will chase a girl until he sleeps with her and then just has no interest at all.

Best wishes.

kenny agony auntThere could be a number of reasons, but the main one that springs to mind is that sex is all that this guy wanted. Once he has got what he wanted then he dosen't want to know anymore.

A female reader, mcbirdie United Kingdom +, writes (18 May 2007):

mcbirdie agony auntIt depends on the guy, and on the relationship.

Some guys are highly motivated by the chase--more so even than the girl they are chasing. They get so caught up on "can I get this girl?" that they forget to pay attention to "should I get this girl?" When they finally get her, then, they realize that maybe they weren't such a great match afterall and lose interest.

Some guys feel too much of an intense connection with a girl they like after sex. If they weren't ready for a serious relationship, those feelings can be overwhelming and make them decide it is better to not pursue the relationship at all and they lose interest.

Rarely, though I suppose it can happen, a guy can so not enjoy the sex with the girl that he doesn't feel any urge to repeat the experience.
