 Some guys look at texting as a pass time when they are bored, he doesn't see you as a person when he texts you it is more that he is just enjoying this past time without actually making the effort. Maybe he is shy and he just doesn't know how to make conversation with you. Why do you not try and make more off an effort with him and see if it helps.

 For some texting isn't "real" and if he can't show you attention in school, stop texting him. He seems to like the attention from you two texting, but.. he doesn't seem interested in YOU as a person.
