A male Austria age 36-40, *nil D writes:

why do we have to take a break after the breakup? if at all we have decided to remain friends after the breakup so what purpose does taking a break fulfill? i think it kills the affection addiction closeness and all the qualities for which we love that person...

so whats the point in being friends? does taking a break means slowly we are losing our dear ones from our life? will it bring a whole new person out of them and their behaviour towards us will lose that affection?

A female reader, Emilysanswers United Kingdom +, writes (4 April 2009):

Sounds like she doesn't want to split up with you straight away, and by saying that you are taking a break and then reassessing the situation, she has the option of going back to you if there are no better offers.

Just tell her that you want to split up now.

Give it a few weeks and then you can be friends again.

Good Luck!! xx
