writes:I know for guys these pictures can be nice eye candy. As a girl I can acknowledge if they have a nice body, but sometimes it seems a little distasteful. I'm talking about pictures with obvious cleavage, lingerie, side boob or whatever else. I feel making them public isn't very classy. So why women post half-naked pictures on social media?Also what if (they)have a boyfriend and still post pictures like that for others to see? Reply to this Question

Along with all the positive comments they get on their physical beauty, they also get a positive reinforcement by having people get upset with their braveness and audacity. And again you can't eliminate that there are some who need attention, some who are posting because they feel insecure or have low self-esteem, are those who just don't share the same conservative type of body image or body shaming that you do.
Have you ever heard the term live and let live? Unless these women or their posts are in someway harming you why not just ignore them?

 Maybe they do not share your definition of what is or is not classy. Or, they do not give to being classy and showing class the same value and importance you do.
Maybe for you, OP, the best compliment would be being told " My, what a proper, refined young lady ". Other girls really don't care about being thought of as " true ladies " , they prefer to be seen as sexy and hot and daring.
I am not criticizing you, OP, as for me I think too that
" less is more " is the key to elegance, so in this case, less obstentation, less naked skin, less in-your-face sexuality.
But, we don't have and we should not be expected to have all the same role models. Some of us want to be compared to Kate Middleton with her neat little gloves, and little fancy hats. Others prefers to be compared to Beyonce' or Kim K or similar more trasgressive icons.
Different strokes for different people. You do you, and if you don't want to show off your bodies on social media- don't. What other girls show of their bodies is their own business. and, most of the times, it's a rather, innocuous , temporary vanity. Nothing that time will not heal. I dount that when these girls will be 50 or 60, how it is inevitably going to happen unless some tragic illness or fatality hits them, they still be so anxious to show up their bodies and their underwear :). They'll all turn into proper true ladies, with the fashion audacity of Angela Merkel or Queen Elizabeth.

 Attention, attention, attention.
Young women (AND MEN) are constantly bombarded with images that are highly sexualized. Actors (women specially) promotes their moves quite often with spreads in glossy magazines dressed in "classy" skimpy clothes. Women in music? Same... How often do we hear that "nudes" of so and so famous person have been leaked? *cough* Orlando Bloom.... Jennifer Lawrence...
Who does someone like Kim K constantly post semi nudes? When EVERYONE and their grandmother have already seem every bump and lump of her? Well, she call it's "self-love".
I call it addicted to attention.
If it is because they LOVE how they look, then GOOD for them! Why body-shame them?
It's THEIR social media and they can post whatever they want.
You don't want to see those? Hide their pictures or feeds.
You don't want to post pictures like that? then don't.
You don't feel it's classy to do, then don't (and I agree I don't see the NEED to post pictures of myself in underwear for all the see, but I don't really have a problem with others doing that AS LONG as they are over 18)

reader, anonymous, writes (10 August 2016): Attention, flattery, compliments, false sense of control (you can want me, but you can't have me/I want to make you weak for me... but you won't get to take me), they do it with boyfriends because they aren't getting any of that with him, it gives them a false sense of safety because it feels anonymous (oh, he lives in MI and I live in TX so he can't come visit...).

 Because they are young and cute (they think) so they flaunt what they have. Simple as.
And why not? There will come a time when they are no longer young, no longer cute and will (hopefully) no longer feel a need to flaunt their bodies.
