A female United Kingdom age 30-35, *hats_not_my_name writes:

ok sorry this is quite long and a bit complicated..but here goes!

I used to be good friends with a girl two years below me who gets on my bus...let's call her A. A used to hang out with my group of friends last year, as she fell out with some of her friends in her own year and she knew me and some of my other friends from the bus. however at the beginning of this year, A started to get more friends in her own year and stopped hanging out with our group. this was fine by me and i was still talked to her on the bus, we just weren't as close anymore. but then, a couple of weeks before the end of the year, A fell out with her best friend and started to get closer to another girl who also gets my bus...let's call her B. I'd never really liked B, as she seemed really harsh and has a reputation for being a bit of a bully, but i thought whatever, A was entitled to be friends with whoever she wanted. but things between A and her best friends started to get really malicious and this cuased one of my friends, C, to fall out with her. I just refused to get involved. but then A also offended another one of my friends and i started to dislike her a bit. then as the final straw she made a really hurtful comment to my best friend. i was outraged and couldn't understand why she had done this. obviously my best friend doesn't like A anymore, but i'm completely torn, as A still likes me and is always very sweet to me. also whilst i dislike B, i'm still friends with some of A's mates and I don't feel like i can just ignore her....however coinsidering how much she has hurt my friends, i shouldn't really like her! now that it's the holidays, i don't see A but i hav spoken to her and she's shown no signs of disliking me...i just don't know how to feel towards her! so i would really appreciate some advice on how to handle her when i go back to school. i guess i need an outsiders perspective lol! ty in advance and i'm so sorry about the length and complexity of this question! xxxx

thats_not_my_name agony aunthey everyone ty for the advice (though tbh spirit of iona i'm nt sure i understood all the long words!) i've decided that my friendship with A is nothing compared to my closeness with my best friend so i will take her side. however, i won't cut A out completely, as my best friend (i assuming to avoid an arguement) still talks to A. also apparently A has made up with her best friend so maybe that will help ease the tension on the bus a bit....still i won't know until september! ty again for all your help xxxxx

I always take my best mates side, but I have been in this situation before.

Stick by your best mate but continue speaking to A as someone you know, just not like really matey like you used to be as this will annoy your bessie. Hope it helps....... :)
