Why did he buy the condoms?

Question - (28 January 2010) 4 Answers - (Newest, 29 January 2010)
A female United States age 26-29, anonymous writes:

Lets call my boyfriend 'Max' My best friend 'Amber' and 'Ambers' boyfriend 'Sam' - to make things less confusing.

Recently I heard from my Sam, that my current boyfriend of a week, max (Sam and max are best-friends so Sam would know) that Max recently bought condoms... I really don't know how to react to this. I'm only 13 (so is Max) and I definitely don't want to have sex until *at the very least* the age of 16.

Why did Max buy them?

A.Is it because Max is a pervert or something, and he *does* want to do more?

B.Or is it because, Max is a good boyfriend and wants to be safe just in case something does happen?

Amber says that she doesn't think Max is the 'perverted' type at all (Amber talks to him a lot, their friends) and her Sam(Sam and max are friends) and Amber both say Max *really really* loves me.

When Sam told Amber that he bought condoms and Amber asked why, Sam said 'Because Max doesn't want to get pregnant'(referring to me).

So what do I make of this? What was his intention for the condoms?

Hope.

Wishful thinking.

He's a 13 year old boy. That means that there is exactly one thing on his mind, from morning 'till eve, and then it's in his dreams.

He very well may love you a great deal, that doesn't change the biological fact that right now the testosterone level in his blood makes him wish he were a raging sex freak.

He may respect you more than he could say (and given his responsable choices thus far, I suspect that be the case) but that doesn't change the fact that he can get incredibly turned on and need to go deal with an embarrassing sudden swelling for no reason in particular!

He may not expect anything, but he's 13, and he's going to dream big!

That doesn't make him a pervert, that makes him a teenage boy.

He might want more, or he might be practising. Condoms take a little bit of practise. Why don't you ask him?

LLindy87 agony auntmy best advice to you is to confront him about it and listen to what he has to say and be rational about it. Have you even gotten your period yet?
