ok, i am starting to be really confused and this story is getting longer and longer. my husband and i have been married for 5 years....2 children. our youngest is 2.5yrs old.

any way...aug.4th/08 i had a regular period that lasted 6-7 days...first 3 days being heavy, then slowly petering out. we had unprotected sex on day 12 of my period which was august 16th. i started spotting on the 18th and spotted for 3 days. my 2nd period was due on sept 1. when the 1st came i spotted for 4 days but no period. 3 weeks later(sept21/08) my period came...very lightly and only for 3 days. i had already gone for a bloodtest and urine test before this and they were negative. i've heard though that there are chances of those being wrong....its happened to other women before. sooooo, i got my 3rd period just last sunday, oct 19th and by monday oct 2oth afternoon it was over. today is the 22nd and i have not bled since monday. its over. it was also very light where i only used 2 pads.

what could this mean? this has never happened before. in the very beginning i did have a few preg symptoms where i was very dizzy and nauseous with headaches all the time which is not normal for me. my periods are always normal and on time every 29 days. anybody have advice for me? please!!!!

A female reader, birdynumnums Canada +, writes (22 October 2008):

birdynumnums agony auntThere are so many different reasons why this could be happening, but none of us are Doctors. You need a good OB/GYN and you need to take a list of all of your concerns to him. You should probably have a physical and a blood panel done to check your hormone levels and make sure that you aren't anemic. You may even have gotten pregnant after the last time you tested yourself. But we can only speculate, and you need a professional to talk this over with in order to get to the bottom of it. Frankly, my periods were never normal, and it took a long time for them to settle back into a pattern again after each pregnancy.

BTW, for anyone out there who has lapses of memory, I bought a small handheld digital voice recorder to take with me to appointments so that I don't forget any of what the Doctor tells me and I am sure of what he has said. It was only 29 dollars (and I can use it for other things...). I learned this tip after my brother went through cancer treatment. It makes following instructions easier. ;^)
