Hes not a flirt, he doesnt do anything with people other than friendly stuff, he is quite shy when it comes to the big stuff and hes never had a gf. hes also been hurt in the past.The thing was we went out and he was really quiet with me, i got abit drunk/ill and him and a mate walked me home. he was very close to me and i know he was just looking after me but just some of the stuff like the way he was holding me and stuff felt like he did. Also because he seemed abit nervous. We dont talk much as hes not a big talker online or anything so only really speak in person. What could i look out for that would give me a clearer view?

 From what you've said I would say he does like you, normally people on the outside looking in can see more than the person/people actually involved in the situation and your friends seem to be thinking the same.
He's shy as you've said so I would think you'll need to make any real moves towards him yourself and not wait for him to do so but if you are thinking about doing so I would take things slowly and not push or pressure him in anyway.
