reader, anonymous, writes (14 May 2012): The most important thing in my mind is something that makes you feel pretty, makes you feel confident and suits the occasion. A dress to go bowling would be a bit too much hehe.
Always go smart/casual. You don't want to be too dressed up but you do want to look like you've made the effort.
Unless you want another fwb don't dress up provocative. It's kind of hard to be interested in a girls brain and what she says when her tits are hanging out in your face.

 Something flattering to your body type, most definitely. Nothing too promiscuous though, unless your plan is to sleep with him on the first date.
Chose colors good for your skin tone, although since you'll probably already be wearing clothes from your closet, you'll probably have mostly those colors.
It all depends on the message you want to send, and where the date is at. If you're going miniature golfing at night, a dress might not be a good idea.
If you're going out to dinner, a dress would probably be a good idea.
