reader, anonymous, writes (11 November 2007): there is an easy solution to this....just don't go staright in with the question...it might suprise him quite a bit....so just wait a while...get to know him more...talk alot with him and make sure he is engaging in the conversation and then when you feel its the right moment you can ask him in a not so straight forward way..

 I think in this day and age it does not look to out of place for a girl to ask a guy out as it did years ago. I think alot of shy guys would welcome an approach from a girl. Instead of asking him out straight away try to make a friend out of him, throw in some flirtatious gestures like eye contact and touches and take it from there. After a couple of weeks of this, who knows he may even pluck up the courage and ask you out.
