I know its something every guy gets and its natural but still a little embarassing. My girldfriend is really nice about it and totally understands but i still want to try and sort it out.Anyone know an easyish way to help prevent this?

As it is you are perfectly normal, and most girls would take it as an ego boost that they could get a "rise" out of you.
You want to prevent it? Picture your parents having sex. No, that would probably ruin you for life. We all like to think our parents are asexual lol.

There's no way to prevent that or your erection, so just enjoy the sensation. There is a way to get rid of an erection though, and it doesn't mean you have to have sex. Get it out and ask her to play with it. As fast as she likes.

 This is what happens to every boy/man in the entire world! Some men have a problem getting it up, you should be happy that all it takes is a little making out. I'm not sure why you would be embarrassed. I'm sure that your partner isn't turned off at all. Wait to go all the way, in the meantime, there is no way to stop getting "excited" unless you stop getting turned on..which means...don't hook up! Or..just think about your Grandma.
