k_c100 agony auntYou cant do anything for him I'm afraid - he has to get the Visa himself. I'm not sure how Visas work but seen as Turkey is not part of the EU (yet) it may be a little more difficult for him to stay here for extended periods of time. I would imagine he will be able to enter on a tourists visa (this wont last long) and he will have to find a job over here and then re-apply for a working visa.

Probably the most helpful thing you can do is look out for some jobs for him - find out what's available in the local area and see if any family/friends know of anything that would be suitable for your partner. Getting a job is vital - if he does not find a job quickly then he will get deported back to Turkey.

www.ukvisas.gov.uk will have all the information you and your boyfriend needs - get him to have a look on here. www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk is also another good website for more information.

I hope this helps!

He needs to go to the British Consul in his country and ask about it there.

I'm not sure what his chances are but he can always come over on a holiday to see you.

You should make sure he does that before he starts looking into visas.

He has to do the work on this one. Unless you are an employer then you can't be involved. Tell him to get on google and do some research. If he's bright enough to be at uni then he's bright enough to figure it out.

Be wary of any foreign guy that is asking you to "help him" get a visa and never send money.

Good Luck!! xx

Mr Me agony auntI agree with anon... don't send any cash to him. He should be able to pay for a visa. They do not cost much at all, in most cases!

As for how to get a visa? He would have the visit the English consulate in Turkey and apply for the appropriate visa there. He is in luck that there is a British Consulate in Bodrum, so he can apply there.

In some cases he will need to prove the following in order to even apply for the visa:

1) He has flights booked with a return leg

2) He has accommodations at a hotel, hostel, or some other lodging booked

3) He has the funds to support his trip, including being able to purchase food and other needs

What info he'll need to apply for the visa he will have to call the embassy and ask.

Check out this website for all the information you should need: http://ukinturkey.fco.gov.uk/en

no idea how you would get a visa, but be very wary about sending cash to him (if he asks). there are a lot of nasty lowlifes out there in internet land that pray on vulnerable people.
