A female United Kingdom age 30-35, anonymous writes:

I really fancy my teacher and I want to know if he fancies me back. One day in my school corridor when I was going into a lesson,I flicked my hair(more obviously than I actually had intended to) and he looked at me really suprised...I though at first he was going to shout at me but then he told me to "do my tie up" and then he did it up for me.Does that mean he was staring at my chest or just telling me about my uniform?I don't believe my tie was undon.

Frank B Kermit agony auntYou are playing a dangerous game. Flicking your hair...the flirting...you are playing with fire. He is your teacher, and he could lose his job, and even go to jail for the way you go out of your way to intice him. If you really fancy him, STOP trying to get his male attention.

A female reader, DrPsych United Kingdom +, writes (18 August 2007):

DrPsych agony auntIt would be hard to read the mind of your teacher but...if he fancies you and he cannot keep himself under control then he is not someone you should be looking up to - it makes him a bit tragic really. As you may know, having relationships with pupils is illegal in the UK as relatively new legislation has been introduced in the past few years. I wouldn't be flattered even if he did fancy you because it means he is fond of young girls who are easier to impress with his life experience, he may have a partner at home which means he is prone to cheating (or a wandering eye at least) and he has no grasp of professional conduct since it is always inappropriate to use your power as a teacher for personal gains. I would just forget about your teacher because if he does fancy you then it makes him anything but bargain of the year and if he doesn't then you would risk embarrassing yourself and jeopardising his career (staff room gossip is great for breaking the back of educational promotion).

A male reader, Jamer70 United Kingdom +, writes (18 August 2007):

Jamer70 agony auntwell from the authority point of view i doubt it. At my school since im in the 6th form i have to tell the younger kids to do their ties up and sometimes do it for them (when their lazy) and it means nothing. Maybe he had a different opinion of what "done" is on a tie.

I hope he wasnt staring at your chest as it would be ethically wrong.
