A female reader, aunt honesty Ireland +, writes (16 August 2016):

aunt honesty agony auntCan you not catch a bus or go on a girlie day out shopping and buy a quiet one? Okay so you share a room so that does limit your privacy but am sure your family member is not in there 24 hours a day, why not use a locked bathroom?

Tisha-1 agony auntIs the family member bed-bound and unable to leave the room? If so, then perhaps it would make sense for you to find another venue.

If the family member does leave the shared room from time to time then use the room when it is vacant.

You obviously have access to the internet so research “quiet vibrators” or similar search terms. You can buy just about anything and have it delivered. Take some cash and buy a gift card for an online retailer or visa/mastercard cash card when you go shopping for food with your family. Then when you get home, use that card to buy the device you’ve found.

Or offer to pay for the gas and borrow a car, go out and buy what you need. Offer to do the grocery shopping and run errands.

Give some cash to a friend and have her buy it for you.

There are solutions for your situation.

A male reader, Denizen United Kingdom +, writes (12 August 2016):

Denizen agony auntCan you get a quiet vibrator delivered somewhere for you to collect. It must be possible to order one on the internet? You sound like you are on a leash. Can't someone take you to town and let you do some shopping on your own? Perhaps you don't have an Anne Summers shop or similar in your local town. What do your friends do?

Really I think you need to be a bit creative. You must have some time on your own?
