For those who don't know or haven't read my posts before, my name's Josh, and the biggest aspect of my love-life at the moment is that it hasn't existed yet. To read more about this, check my column and my other articles out (Y)

However, this could well be about to change. The date is 9th February 2010: about 5 days before valentine's day. The time is 6:30pm, and I've just returned home after my weekly driving lesson. I'm going to update this record as the evening goes on, and you can come with me on what could be quite a momentus occasion in my life... well, for me anyhow...

6:00pm

Stumped up the stairs, dropped down in front of computer. Considered doing math homework.... nah... facebook!

6:20pm

Phone went off. It's her, which is unusual... she never texts at this time... I reached over, picked up the phone, and opened the text.

"So... you got a valentine this year?x"

6:25pm

Remembered to breathe again. Replied to and simultaneously opened DearCupid (see, we CAN multi-task when it matters :P).

"That depends... on whether you have one or not :)xxx"

6:58pm

I bought her a valentine's card and chocolates yesterday: I'll write the can now. The card is a nice one: nothing silly, nothing OTT: "To someone special, with love, on Valentine's Day." There's also a poem in the card, which I thought was really nice:

"I always love to be with you,

To hear the things you say,

I love the things we share together,

In our special way…

The small things, the important things,

Whatever we may do,

Everything seems right –

Whenever I’m with you

Happy Valentine’s Day"

7:22pm

Card is written, envelope sealed... Now I just have to wait for her text. My stomache appears to have finally got that A-grade in gymnastics. Maybe I WILL do my math: take my mind from the suspense.

7:48pm

Ok, in about half an hour, I've done.... 2 exercises... out of 14... this really isn't working. Maybe some English Literature... probably not, but it still needs doing.

Still no response from her: I'll wait.

7:50pm

Text received! ...but it was dad, asking me how I'm doing on my homework. He has no idea what that little message did to my heart rate... Ah well: I'll keep waiting.

8:01pm

Still nothing... what's going on? I know she almost never texts at this hour, but... never mind: maybe she's out of phone credit, or put it down somewhere and left it, or... any number of things, really. I don't know why I'm so nervous! XD

8:05pm

Msn is talking suddenly. Scared the pants off me :L

8:27pm

Called down for dinner... it doesn't look like she'll be texting back tonight. I'm going to see her tomorrow evening anyway: I'll give the card and present then. I'll leave a comment on this article when I get home tomorrow evening: I'll let you know (if you care, lol) what happens. Sorry if this turned out to be a waste of your time :(

Wish me luck: see you tomorrow evening! :)

applebite8821 agony auntNice!! I liked reading your post.

I am so happy for you. Just go with the flow without pressure. Pursue her but give her space. Think of her but don't neglect your studies. Love her but love yourself too!! That's what you call multi-tasking LOL.

Phsyciatrist-to-be agony auntOk, apologies for the delay :L It wasn't intentional.

I have to say, alst night was fantastic! :D I was panicking the whole evening for reasons I couldn't quite put my finger on, but in the end...

I had the card and box of chocolates in a bag with some piano music: zipped up. At the end of the session, we were both sat at the piano: I was playing, and she was singing quietly (Bridge over Troubled waters). When we finished, I told her to go and open the bag. So she did. Then came running back and gave me what I reckon was the biggest hug I've ever had :L

She moved the stuff to her own bag, then came back and hugged me again, for a bit longer :)

And when she moved away to leave, I heard her whisper: "Thanks: love you..."

Last night, then, was probably one of the best nights of my life :)

The downside? Neither of us asked the other out :( But hey, I'm not actually that bothered! :L The feeling I got when she hugged me... and when she whispered those little words... heck, no one's ever said that to me before! :D

So yeah: still no relationship, but I honestly don't think it could have played out any better than it did :)

Thanks for reading and witnessing the evening with me (sort of) :) At some point in the near future, I'm going to ask her. I'll let you know how that turns out :P :D

Phsyciatrist-to-be agony auntShe texted back at 3:20pm today: "Well, I don't have a valentine... yet ;)"

We talked for a while: played a little game:

"You have anyone in mind? I know I do ;)"

"oh, anyone I know? ;)"

"oh, I think you know her very well :) My only concern is that she might not like chocolate... :P"

"Hm, I think she probably does.... ;)"

etc.

It's now 6:06pm: in about an hour, I will see her. And by the time I get home this evening, I could well be in the first relationship of my life :)

Fingers crossed....
