Hi, I have this problem and I was hoping if you guys could help me out. I'm a 14 years old girl and afraid of sex. When I have sex education at school and we are disscusing the different types of contraceptives it makes me feel physically sick. Is that strange?

I don't know what it is, but everything about sex makes me feel sick. This is really putting me off of ever having sex.

Plz help me with my problem, as it is kinda ruining my life.

i agree with granny. ur much too young to even think about sex at 14 and it's perfect that you dont want it to be a part of your life yet, it shouldnt be. Hopefully u wont even need to give contraception a thought until ur sixteen!!And if you think about it, how many of your friends, or ppl in ur class say that they wanna have sex and stuff, not many and the ones who do know nothing about it and are just attention seekers. There's loads of other ppl who are just like you, some who are older than you n feel exactly the same. Nowadays because we're bombarded by sex everywhere, at school, work, media my theory is that ppl feel more pressurised into doing it, but you just take things at your own pace and when the time comes you'll feel ready!!just make the most of your childhood while u still can because bfore u know it youll be going to work and paying bills n stuff, so dont worry about it!!!hope this helps!!

A female reader, Granny +, writes (20 July 2006):

Granny agony auntYou are 14 and not yet physically and mentally ready for sex. So forget it. Say NO if a bf tries something. Listen, you do not have to have sex if you don't want it. You are normal for your age. Enjoy your life and stop worrying. Your menstrual cycle has probably only just started and you will need some time to adjust to the new hormones in your body. Give yourself that time. Maybe you might feel different at 18. Whatever - having and enjoying sex is not a duty and never has been. Decide on sex later. You are too young at 14. Imagine if you live to be 100, you still have 86 years to decide. Don't rush it and be true to yourself.

very best wishes XXX :)
