Hey guys, I'm worried. I am sexually active but we always use a condom and I'm on the pill. This past month I've been extremely nervous about getting into my university of choice and stress out on other family issues. I started to spot before I was off the pill for the week, probably around the 20 or 21 day this started. Then nothing.

Tomorrow, Sunday, I am supposed to start the new pack but I still haven't got my period. I know that stress can affect periods, as an issue were my father almost died caused me to skip a couple before being sexually active. Even though it is years later the stress of the situation where my father almost died came back this past month.

I am confused on what to do. Is it okay to start a new pack if I haven't had my period? What do I do?

Wendyg agony auntYes carry on taking it, its very common for you to miss a period and being on the pill actually gives us a dummy period on the 7 day break. Of course we would normally have a period but the pill is controlling that, and thats normally the time that we would have a bleed. So if its 7 days just carry on. Stress will affect what happens to our body and depending on the type of pill you are taking it can actually stop your period. The pill makes the body think that it is already pregant, hene why it should be quite effective at stopping your becoming pregnant when taken correctly. If you are taking it correctly about the same time each day then dont worry, it probably is you worrying delaying it. Carry on as normal, always take the pill when you need to despite not having a bleed in between. If you are overally worried then pop along to your GP who will put your mind at rest. But all kinds can affect how our bodies behave, and the pill is really added hormones!

Take care x

sibaan agony auntI beleive you should carry on if you believe its just stress but if you think you may be pregnant then dont take them. Spotting is a early symptom of pregnancy.
