Should we just keep things friendly for now because of the age difference?

A female United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

I recently met a guy at work who is 24. We have gone on several dates and text one another almost daily. He knows that I am 17 for five more months, but has said multiple times he will wait for me. We are very similar and get along so well, but naturally my family is concerned because of the age difference and where we are in our lives right now. I want to keep seeing him and he obviously feels the same way. Should I keep it friendly for now or do what I want (not necessarily what I need)?
