writes:Im an 18 yr old guy.I've been single for about a month and a bit and I'm totally over my ex.At this party, I met an attractive girl who was positive and seemed to be interested in talking.I got her number and sent a few messages but nothing more.A couple weeks later, I met her again at another party. I played it cool and we had a good chat again.Since then, we've been texting a fair bit and I quite like this girl. She's very confident and friendly, however, I'm not sure if she's interested or not.I'm weary of falling into the "friend" catorgory.She texts me a lot and we talk bout all kinds of stuff. How should I express my interest or should I wait a bit longer?

reader, anonymous, writes (25 May 2007): I am not sure how this girl you like falls into the category of being a 'recognized party girl'..I didn't read 'that' in your posting. Wasn't that a bit presumptive on thae part of the other advice just below. Many young folks in this age group do attend a lot of social gatherings and no, not all female change partners in the manner described.
At any rate, why are feeling you have put into the 'friend zone' here? Dating for people should be a very carefully, selective dating process. Get to know and let this process take root and see what happens. Sometimes you can't rush people, when it comes to dating. Some people jump into it headlong and rush it and they have deep regrets later when they find out, that the person they liked was not for them. And then some people go slooow..take their time, become friends first and make sure they are making the right decision. Maybe this girl has been 'played' before and she not willing to dive in without using some careful scrutinization and discernment. Perhaps you should be doing he same thing. At times like this...one always uses their head when deciding who is good for their life and future. I say...give this time, go slow...and if she's the one for you..all will fall into place. And look at it this way..if she turns out to not be the one for you...then feel honored that you did make a wonderful, new friend. Be positive and stay real. Good luck

 First, you did not fall into "friend" category.
Second, she is recognised as a Party Girl type.
They change their boyfriends and girlfriends like stockings.
Your question is "How should I express my interest or should I wait a bit longer?"
My advice: Express your interest to her at the next party when you meet her again.
"not sure if she's interested or not" - NOW she is interested.
