Should I really go through with surgery to correct my breasts?

Hello everyone glad I found a place I could receive some help. Has anyone here ever gotten plastic surgery, specifically a boob job? My problem is very personal to me. I found out at a young age that my breasts have a deformity. This has always affected my self esteem for obvious reasons. Being a young female who hates her breasts is really a terrible feeling.

When I was 18 I decided to consult several surgeons who confirmed my deformity and all had a similar price for the surgery. I was so relieved that my problem can be fixed. I honestly don't want to deal with this for the rest of my life.

My question is should I really go through with the surgery? I know I for sure want to do it, but is it financially wise?

I will be spending all of my savings for it. I would love to hear from people who have gotten plastic surgery.

Honeypie agony auntConsult with your doctor first and look into your health insurance as well. Some insurances can help pay part of it it it's reconstructive surgery others, it's it's a matter of your well being.

No matter your age, hating parts of your body is a terrible feeling.

I'm not a fan of plastic surgery just for the "I want to be perfect" sake, but I do think there are many cases it can be put to good use. So talk to your doctor. And make DARN sure you have help researching a GOOD plastic surgeon. You life can be at stake by going with a cheaper option. Bear that in mind.

So_Very_Confused agony auntIF you have a deformity have you checked to see if your insurance would cover it as it's reconstructive and not cosmetic?

I had a tummy tuck and a breast lift (no implants) with a good reconstructive plastic surgeon (NOT a mommy makover surgeon) and the breast lift was the easy part of the surgery.

I would do it again.

you will need help after surgery. you will not be able to lift or carry and you will possibly have drains that have to be attended to. but recovery is 4-6 weeks and for me the pain of the breast lift was minimal.

if your deformity bothers you and doctors can fix it then I say go for it.

A female reader, anonymous, writes (26 March 2015):

My sister got a breast enhancement when she was about your age. She didn't like her boobs because she felt they were too small (she was an A cup) and one of her boobs was larger than the other. And she had a major chip on her shoulder about it.

Back then (this was about 15 years ago) it cost about $5000 to $7000. Somewhere in that range. She chose a surgeon based on the work he had done, she liked the results of his patients. She also had a good friend who had gotten a breast augmentation with that surgeon and had recommended him.

She is now a C cup. She always was and still is very happy with her results.

As for the money, you are young, you can make it all back in no time. If you want it, go for it.
