A reader, anonymous, writes (5 June 2008):

There is a way to make doggie work so that it does not hit your cervix. First, keep your head low so that your butt is higher than your head. Also, don't allow him to enter from above. He needs to enter from low or straight in (horizontal). Both of these will result in his penis pointing more toward your back. This should allow it to slide past your cervix unless he is really big or unless you have a very tipped uterus. My wife has a slightly tipped uterus and it works that way for us.

lexilou agony auntYou and me both!! Its easier for him to get deeper and as the others have said it hits the cervix and if he's well endowed its extra ouch!!

Take it slow and ask him to be really gentle. As an alternative lie him down and go on top but facing away from him rather than towards him, so its still sort of doggy style as its sort of from behind but you control the depth and speed x

aphexinfinite agony auntbecause you get a deeper penitration and he is most likely hitting your cervix so tell him to be a little more gentle and it should be fine :) aphexy

Star_07 agony auntThat position is the most direct so the pain you are feeling is probably when he hits your cervix. If you enjoy this position then tell him that he has to be gentle and not go in as far. Other wise, just enjoy the many other positions!
