A female Australia age 30-35, anonymous writes:

Recently I haven't done anything different as far as I know but whenever I go to the toilet for a poop my anus tears a little on the outside and a littl bit of blood is produced and it's quite painful. Anyone have any idea what could be the cause of this? Could it be from soap??

Tisha-1 agony auntSounds a bit like hemorrhoids to me. http://www.webmd.com/a-to-z-guides/hemorrhoids-topic-overview

Probably best to be seen by a doctor to make sure it isn't something more serious. Why take chances with your health?

Take care!

Uncle Phil is right.

You need a bit more fibre: beans, rice, wholegrain stuff.

That will make it a bit softer and then it will not be a giant lump that you have to give birth to.

Our bodies change during summer / winter so it could be the heat that's making your body store things up and compacting it more. All kinds of things affect it so get yourself a big loaf of brown bread and eat some of that for a while.

Good Luck!! xx

MansonGroupie agony auntIt sounds like you may have a fissure, these are very common and rarely cause any problems. There is a product on the market called Anusol-This a suppositary which heals and moisturises the area.

I have something very similar, though often with what looks like a bucket-full of blood...Anusol are such a relief!

However, to be on the safe side, I'd suggest you check with your doctor to ensure there isn't an ongoing problem. They may advise that you make a couple of alterations to your diet, especially if all that's needed is to soften things up a bit.

Please don't worry.

Hope this helps.xx

Do you have to take a deep breath, bite hard on a piece of leather and strain like hell to produce something that resembles a log with lots of bark on it? If so, you might like to alter your diet to include more fibre which will ease things quite a bit.

The tear should heal fairly quickly, but you might also have piles - which is another possible cause of bleeding. We've got a cream which is available over the counter called Anusol here, not sure what the equivalent is in Oz., which takes the sting out and shrinks piles.

A diet full of fibre is the important thing though.

I don't think soap would do this, but are you sure the blood is coming just from the tear? Most often when there is sign of blood it could be serious, go to the doctors.
