My sister seems to have it all ...

Question - (1 May 2010) 4 Answers - (Newest, 2 May 2010)
A female age 30-35, anonymous writes:

Have you ever been envious of your sister?

I am, all the time. She always gets more attention than I, is way prettier and richer than me. Even though she is already 35 and married, every one still adores her youth and beauty. I know I'm being mean and evil, but if you are in my situation, you would understand why. I hate her less than I hate myself. I am thinking of plastic surgery and hoping it might help me.

Should I do it?

Well I could only comment if I was to see you, For all I know you are pretty and sexy? There will always be someone better looking, richer, brighter than us? That is a fact of life.

Look in the mirror now and admire that beautiful young lady looking back. Bet you always have boyfriends, if you don't that is cuse you can't be bothered?

Japanese culture is alien to us in the West, talk to a counsellor at work or college please you need to sort these feelings?

YouWish agony auntYou know, you're 18-21 and she's 35. I wouldn't wonder if she's writing a letter similar to yours saying that she's jealous of YOU. You don't need plastic surgery. Life isn't about competing with others for permission to love yourself. This is about being the best YOU that you can be.

You can either fixate on your sister, or you can change your world and be strong and beautiful in your own right. Look at it this way: Usually, the things you envy in others are reflections of who you want to be. Well, be that person, and you don't need plastic surgery to do it! Self-confidence is far more effective than the knife anyway!

No, because surgery may make you less attractive and will definitely empty your wallet. Everyone is beautiful in their own way and PLASTIC surgery makes you look like PLASTIC, get my drift.

Siblings are always envious of each other, don't worry. I'm sure your sister wishes she had your life from time to time, after all, she may look young buy you truly ARE young.

As for the attention, have you ever thought that maybe your sister is being consoled rather than complimented? Maybe they're not bothering you with cheesy fake compliments because they all ready know you don't need them.

Keep your head up, focus on you and doing your best. Your time will come. Just because you don't get all the attention, it doesn't mean you are not loved.

Stay strong, dear.
