I'm 16 and for some reason my right breast mainly my nipple just randomly got itchy. I looked it up on google and it took me to breast cancers. Of course I got scared, and asked my mom. She said I was to young for it. [my grandma die from it so there is a chance me and my sister can get it but its slim] But I'm still scared. I plan to talk to my mom later when she's not busy or half asleep for a serious question. I'm just wondering has anyone else have this happen to them? Oh and of course after scratching it, its sore and hurts to touch it again, but the itching doesn't stop. My ex boyfriend also said it might be because I'm eating to much sugar/ and he's right. But I'm not sure if its from that alone. Maybe dying my hair has something to do with it? I'm not sure. I'm just really confused about this. Please help. Much aloha!

xTheAlmightyDuckx agony auntAs many people have suggestedd going to the doctor, i know especially when your a teenager how embarrassing it can be.

I suggest if you do plan to see a doctor ask for a female one, not trying to make you panic but they might want to quickly examine your breast to make sure everything is okay.

If your super embarrassed and your kind of dreading it, maybe it would be a good idea to take a photo of your breast and show them that? Just tell them your not to comfortable taking your top off unless you absoultly have to, i'm sure they will understand.

A female reader, chigirl Norway +, writes (12 November 2011):

chigirl agony auntDry skin, breast could still be growing, allergies towards the washing powder (which will make what you wear or sleep in itch, and you could be more sensitive in some spots than others), uncomfortable bra/wrong bra size (this is most likely it as you can get scratched/itch/burning feeling/pains if you wear the wrong type of bra for you that doesn't support well enough).

Loads of possibilities. Highly unlikely to be cancer. The simple solution is usually the correct one. So try a different type/size of bra for a few weeks and see if it gets better.

Honeypie agony auntWith the cold weather season kicking in it is most likely dry skin more then anything. It can partly be hormonal too.

If it still scares you, tell your mom you want to see your doctor. Learn how to do your own breast exams.

So_Very_Confused agony auntit might be dry skin... it might be nothing. at 16 you can and should see the gyn for a yearly check up... you can discuss it with the doctor then.

they will do a BE (breast exam) are you doing the BSE yourself every month? get used to feeling your breasts (in the shower is fine) and under your arms looking for lumps and thickenings... you are too young for a mammogram... but a check up with the gyn will put your fears to rest.

I wouldn't worry too much. It happens to me all the time especially when im on my period and I've also got checked for breast cancer just recently and everything was perfectly normal. But if it will make you feel better get it checked out.
