My partner is working night shifts and I hate it!

Question - (2 April 2008) 1 Answers - (Newest, 2 April 2008)
A female United Kingdom age 36-40, anonymous writes:

When he has woken up in the afternoon, i have to go to work. We have 2 small children and i dont have any energy, i tried taking the baby to a playgroup, so i could make some friends, but i always slept late and I had way too much housework to do. I cant form relationships with co workers because they always ask me to go out drinking and i cant, I cant relate to any of their lifestyles.

I dont get help from my family because they are busy too, they never even visit, I have to make the effort. On top of that I have to work out when the kids are asleep because people commented on my weight. Should I threaten to leave him? I know that sounds harsh but he refuses to stop working nights and I dont know what else to do.

A female reader, anonymous, writes (2 April 2008):

I realise I sounded a bit ungrateful and crazy! But because he works nights I can never go out, except to work. When we do have some time, he goes out and does all his hobbies, he says because he needs to have a life too.
