A male Canada age 30-35, anonymous writes:

OK so my gf's best friend is driving me absolutely insane... she is extremely rude to me and insulting even after im always really nice to her. I tell my gf that her friend does this, she even does it in front of her, and she just tells her to stop... and her friend doesnt. She calls me a moron, once because I said i wasnt going to prom, and she apparently thinks that is a dumb idea. she called me an asshole the other day cause I was teasing my gf a little bit... btw by teasing I was trying to see a thing she drew in art class but she didnt want me to see cause she thinks shes a bad drawer, my gf knows im just kidding around. her friend will kick me in the back of the legs if im not walking down the hall fast enough. When my gf and I are in the hall about to kiss, she will run up and say something like, 'oh you guy are going to kiss?' we never get any privacy at school.

Now, after all this, my girlfriend actually expects me to just ignore her and put up with it... her friend is with her 24/7, all day long. she actually told me that any other guy would just ignore her... and when I'm rude to her friend behind her back, just like little sarcastic comments, nothing even that bad, she acts like i shouldn't be saying those things, like I'm the bad guy. Her friend pretty much bullys me and all my gf does is tell her to stop but she doesnt... I dont want to tell her that she shouldnt be friends with someone but omg... I guess my question is that should I just put up with her friend? is that ok to expect me to do that? is that fair? any other comments would be appreciated.. and if someone is going to try and tell me im being controlling somehow, please just keep your comments to yourself.

Thanks for the answer, I imagine that's probably why she acts like this.

chigirl agony auntFirst off I think the friend might be jealous of her best friend having a boyfriend while she is single. Oh and if she isn't single I bet'cha she's unhappy about her own bf and is still jealous. Therefor trying to mess it up for you as much as possible. She doesn't want to loose her friend however, she just doesn't want you in the picture.

How do go about this? Stand up for yourself. Next time she is rude to her snap back. After all you are dating her friend not her! If she insists on being a b¤tch, give her what she deserves. Don't tolerate bullying just becase she is your gf's friend.

Second, tell your girlfriend that because her friend is so rude to her you don't want anything to do with her. Which means if your girlfriend wants to hang out with you, her friend is NOT invited to tag along.

Don't force her to choose between you and her friend though. Let her have her friend. Just distance yourself from this friend.
