A female Oman age 30-35, anonymous writes:

hey, Well I had a problem with my boyfriend last night. He said that if I don't do good in school then he will dump me (plus I am trying really hard in school). At that moment I felt like nothing and I felt unsuccessful because it's enough that my dad treats me like that, and I expect more support and help from my boyfriend, I want him to show that he believes in me, which isn't that hard to do.

Well first I wanted to know that if what he did was right and what should I do about it and what should I say, how should I react to this matter.

Thank you

I really need help

eyeswideopen agony auntTell him you get enough negativity from your Dad and what you need from him is his loving encouragement and support. If he can't deliver that then get rid of his critical butt. Keep plugging away with your studies, it's well worth it. And remember your education is just for YOUR benefit and nobody else's.

In his own warped way i bet he thought he was being helpful! In his brain he probably thought that not losing him would be a great insentive to work hard at school.

However that being said it is not helpful in the slightest it has only made you feel worse. Boys are good at this they mean well but usually make it worse. Pay him no mind work hard in school because you want to feel good about yourself, i have a sneaking suspision that when you feel good about yourself you wont mind so much if he sticks around or not. You might even dump him!

Good luck!!!

tell him he is not supportive and you don't need someone like that in your life. Talk through what you feel difficult and ask for help. If he lectures you or treats you like you are stupid you must leave him. Whatever your ability you need people to help not critise you.
