A female United Kingdom age 30-35, anonymous writes:

Hey guys. im a bit worried about my boyfriends eating habbits. He doesnt eat. Well not that im aware of. He had some toast in the morning. He may have a mcdonalds in the afternoon and nothing for dinner. Hes very skinny. Im used to having 3 good meals a day. cereal, toast orange for breakfast. something decent for lunch and a big meal at diner. I used to go to dinner at his and hed usualy have like a drum stick of chickn. but finances have changd since then and he has no job or income at all.

He says hes not hungry. his flat mate tells me he never eats. he makes food and asks him if he wants anyway and he says no. i ask him what he eats n he just says 'somethng'. Should i worry about him? he says hes just not hungry he doesnt need to eat. but hes getting so skinny and i worry. i think he should at the very least have one decent meal at dinner. He says he doesnt have money to buy the food. he just pays the rent reli. i went out shopping him, his flat mate and my mum today. flat mate bought him food and so did my mum. he wasnt happy about it and told us we shudnt b worried about him and he doesnt need food. he doesnt like that my mum bought him food.

Should i be worried? do some people just not eat? he fills up on tons of sweets, coke and crips throughout the day...

A female reader, scrazy Canada +, writes (21 July 2008):

scrazy agony auntI think you should be worried. It sounds to me like your boyfriend is having some financial problems and he can't afford to nourish himself properly.

He probably didn't appreciate you, your mom and flat mate shopping for him because it makes him look weak, like he can't take care of himself -it's a male pride thing, y'know?

The only thing you can do is try and talk to him, tell him that you're concerned with his eating habits.

If anything, you can try and be subtle; invite him over to dinner more often so you know that he's truly eating.

Hopefully, this isn't too serious of a problem because your boyfriend could also have an eating disorder. If you could tell me a little more information, I may be able to help more.

But for now, hope this helps!

XO
