Living with my boyfriend & the guy I like...complicated!

Question - (19 July 2009) 2 Answers - (Newest, 19 July 2009)
A female United States age 36-40, anonymous writes:

I'm 23 years old. I have been living with my boyfriend Chris for 2 years and dating him for 6 years! We are definitely in love. I have always been one of the guys so I loved hanging out with Chris and his guy friends. I love to flirt but Chris doesn't mind that. I've always flirted with his best friend James and I think he's cute, fun, and all around a great guy.

At first I developed a little crush on James but it was definitely and completely harmless, just something fun. Chris told me once that James had a crush on this girl Maggie. When Chris asked him what she was like James said she was cute, really laid-back and a lot like me. I was so flattered and thought that was really sweet. But still just had the little crush on him. (Btw nothing ever came of Maggie and James, she just ended up being a tease.) Anyway, about a year ago James and I started texting each other a lot. Usually just joking back and forth. Then several months ago out of nowhere he told me he had a rather hot dream about me and not to tell Chris. I think this is when I started to like him more because I never knew he thought of me that way. Our texting became constant flirting. He told me he had another dream about me. He said he almost wished that I would stay out of his dreams because he liked dreams to come true and this one could not!

Things got even worse. About 6 months ago Chris, James, and I all moved in together! Now that we live together me and James get to hang out by ourselves a lot. At first we were even snuggling up in a blanket together to watch TV. Now it seems like James has backed off. The texting has pretty much stopped. I don't know if it's because he's not interested in me or because he's trying to salvage his friendship with Chris. We seem to be good friends now. But I can not stop thinking about being with James. I can never wait until the next time he and I get to be alone together.

I just have no idea what to do. I keep wishing James will say or do something so I would know how he feels about me. But at the same time I really love Chris. We have a great relationship. I think I am more physically attracted to James than Chris. This is killing me!

first of all you need to realize that you said maggie was just a tease and that you said you love chris. if you love chris so much then all your gonna be is another sleezy tease for this guy.

if james has cut himself off from you then let it stay that way, apparently he doesnt want anything to do with you. if you are sexually attracted to him then all right but let nothin happen between you two. people are always sexually attracted to others even if they have a significant other, its human nature.

lastly, if you love chris then stop flirting no matter how much chris dousnt care if you do flirt. if you stop flirting then it will stop getting you into situations like this.

Wow! Huge dilema! You need to confront James about how you feel for him. And start to really evaluate your relationship with Chris.
