Bit of a different question now...

Hi to all!

Im sure you all know its valentines day next week. Im 19 and so is my girlfriend. We have been going out for exactly a month today.

I'll be honest and say that i've never had to do anything for valentines day before...ever... not because im lazy, but i've just never had a girlfriend during the valentines date, thats all.

So anyway, im a little short of ideas, and i can only think of the more common 'boring' (?) ideas...

So far, ive thought of, some silver earings (about £18) bunch of red roses, and a meal at a chinese resturant or something (Buffet, all you can eat type thing maybe?)

How does that sound? Im hoping to get a few responses from the females on this site! I have not told her anything about my plans as of yet...

Thanks to all those that respond...

mystify agony aunthi , the best present i ever recieved was a silver compact mirror with my name and "my angel" engraved on it , WOW!

but i also loved it when my husband bought me some smelly shower jelly (nice smelly) to share ;)

this year i am making a teddy bear for my husband (bit more personal than buying one) but you need time for that one.

and having flowers delivered is always a good way to make someone feel really special.

the meal is a good one though , and theres nothing better than cuddling up with your partner for a really soppy romantic film afterwards

hope it all goes well *

Thanks for all the responses!

I have been talking to a couple of female friends and they approve of my idea! Not the all you can eat part though. Im going to change that to a normal having a menu, and ordering.

Not trying to dismiss ideas here but here are some of the reasons i cant do many of the things you listed...

Going to the place we met - Cant really as we met in a pub, and go their twice a week anyway...

First thing i ever said to her on a card - Cant remember what the first thing i said to her was! heh

Fave shoes? - Shes just bought another pair, Fave perfume - Absolutley no idea! Fave chocolate - Again, dont think she has a fave, but im sure i could find a nice box somewhere...

Special places - Dont have one yet, but might do soon ;)

Mixed Tape/CD - Already made one and got in playing in her car hehe.

I like your idea about the artistic card, smeedle. I might try that. Im not sure what you mean about the rose bush though :O

Again, thanks for all the responses, feel free to leave any more you have, but for now, i think i might have got it all sorted finally.

Im getting so excited! :P

Why don't you buy a star and register it im her name or a nickname you might have for her? You get a DVD showing you how to find the star and also a certificate. Its very romantic and also quite original.

smeedle agony auntWhat a wonderful bloke you are and an insperation to all those people that have wrote in and are having such an awful time with there partners, you prove that there are nice caring blokes out there.

If you are arty why not make her a card, put on the front a photo of the two of you, something like that.

I printed a T shirt for my bloke with lots of photos of things that were special to us, I never expected him to wear it out in public but for bed and around the house, he did wear it out once and I nearly died of shame but was so pleased that he was pleased.

Also if you are able to make her a c/d compilation, do you have a favourite song?

The meal idea is great but not the eat as much as you can as this involves getting up and down, just a cheap but nice resturant or quite corner in a pub is fine.

Girls love jewlery but make sure she has peirced ears if it is to be earings.

Roses are good but expensive this time of year and dont last long, why not buy a rose bush that bears her name, there are a few internet sites that tell you names of roses, if you cannot get a rose bush then a plant or flower that bears her name if fine

What ever you do will be fine as long as you devote the evening to her and make her feel special.

willywombat agony auntRomance doesn't men having to spend money. Take her for a romantic walk somewher (don't know were you live, so can't advise were, sorry!). My hubby took me for a picnic!!!on the beach in the car with hot chocolate and chocolates when we had our first valentines together 8 years ago. He made me a tape of songs that really meant something in the words - and I still play it now. I can't really suggest anyhthing else cos as the years have gone by we are on the tried and trusted jewellery and flowers now. But you have got me thinking about what I can do this year now.

Good luck, and have a good one...x

Hi - I think you are off to a great start, and the fact that you're looking for ideas here is a sign of how much you really want to get this right! I think the roses are a definite "go." No woman can resist roses. I agree with the other answer that sentimental ideas are really the best...where did you two meet? Where was your first date? If you don't have any "special" places yet, it's time to make one. I would STAY AWAY from the buffet/all you can eat places. Instead, try restaurants in your area that offer some ambiance - a small Italian place or a Chinese restaurant that does not have buffet-style eating. A table for two with low lighting and good food is always a winner - just make sure to make reservations early!

xxxsoulsistaxxx agony auntI obviously like it when my boyfriend spends a lot of money on me (jewellery etc)!!! But the presents that have made me smile and cry the most have been the little symbolic ones. Something I saw on our first date in a shop window, a meal'drink/walk at the place we met, a card with the first thing he ever said to me on it, my favourite chocolate/perfume/shoes that I never realised I'd mentioned before. Stuff like this is always sure to bring a tear to our eyes! You can't beat a bit of real romance and remember, this has nothing to do with money!!

I know you've only been together for a month so you won't have that many memories yet but it's always nice to get something meaningful from the one you love. Hope this has helped!!!
