 I think it's nice to write a note or give a cute card. I guess it depends on how seriously it's celebrated where you live. But where I live it's not taken seriously, and valentines card are often given to friends as well. A valentines card is the typical thing here, and as it is inexpensive it can be given even if you've only been with your guy for a week. Just don't go over the top, just write something cute like "Thinking of you" or "This is to you because you are adorable" or whatever you would normally write him. Don't make it a declaration of love, just something cute, maybe even a classic poem like "roses are red".

Hey,just comon down.He is probably gettin you somethin so just get him somethin little.Like a small box of chocolates and a card that would be not to little since it has only been a week and its not to much.

Im kind of in the same situation too!. It really depends on where your relationship is at the moment and the type of people you both are...
If i was you, id get a friend to ask HIM if hes getting you anything.. because it'll be kind of aquard if you've braught him something, and he diddnt get you anything.. and vice versa.
If you cant do that, buy him somthing quite simple that doesnt show alot of feelings because as you said, you have only been togehter for a week and he might get a little freeked out if you get him a card thats like 'im in love with you' bla bla bla!.
