A male United Kingdom age 30-35, anonymous writes:

I have been talking to my friend who I met at college last year we have never been best friends but recently I have helped her through a break up with her boyfriend and now a month later she is back to her normal self.

She says she's over him and she looks like she is we have only texted and facebook chatted but its come to the point now where we used to have an end to the convo but now we can go on forever.

I was going to ask her if she wanted to go out new years eve for a meal then to a bar or something and then bring in the new year

Is this a good idea or is it too soon to make a move for her?

A male reader, LovelessAct1 United States +, writes (27 December 2011):

Well, the final decision is up to you, since you know her better than we do, but I'd say that a night out for New Year's Eve is a good place to start. Plus, there is no harm in using this "outing" as a way to test the waters, instead of a real date. Maybe intend on just going as friends until you get strong signals that everything is going well and she's enjoying herself.

If you feel she's unsure about it, you can always just be honest with her and find out if she really is ready to move on or not. Best of luck.
