A female age 30-35, anonymous writes:

Okay, you may feel like i'm interfering in this situation but realy i am just curious as to whether this is normal. My brother is now 21, i am 15... and i no for a fact that he has never had sex, not only has he not had sex but never had a first kiss or a girlfriend. By the age of 21, for a male, is that unusual?

... I do no he is interested in girls, but no one he actually knows. I mean I have heard him talk about women celebs as sexy etc.

What do you think?

yeah I agree with HonnigKanin

You know my friend, that it may be that he is struggling with his own sexuality. So I'd give him some space and just affirm him as a person.

When he does come out if this is the case, you'll need to support him because some people there won't. They'll make his life a misery.

If you don't mind me asking, how do you know that he's never had a girlfriend, or at least a kiss?

It may well be that he is gay, but if he is and you find out I don't think that you should let people know...I know your his sister and you care, but it's his choice when to tell people. It may well be the hardest thing that he's ever had to do to tell people for the first time, so it's very important that you respect his privacy.

I agree with the post below. You could always talk to him a bit. Gently though, males have fragile egos.

A female reader, HonningKanin Norway +, writes (4 October 2009):

HonningKanin agony auntHe may be gay. Even gay people can admit when female celebrities are sexy. Saying someone of the oposite gender is sexy is not an overall indication someone is straight.

Or he could be religious. He may have moral walls that may keep him from having a girlfriend and thus all the things that go with it like kisses, cuddles and definately sex.

He may not have found the right woman and hence hence wouldn't be intimate.

He maybe asexual. But that is a very very unlikely.

However I did know someone who was 24 and asexual. Never wanted sex at all, but was attracted to women and even saw himself maybe marrying a woman one day(but still no sex). He was also a vegan and never wanted kids.

Point is it can be normal and in some cases not normal depending on circumstances and this is pretty much pointless speculating. If you are concerned you could always just talk to him. He may be open and give you the answer. You have nothing to lose really by asking him.
