writes:Is it illegal to date a step cousin? Or better yet, a first step cousin? I have a huge problem. Over the past weekend, me and my step cousin have gotten really close. I may have some strong feelings for him, and im pretty sure my family would disaprove of this. I dont know what to do.. Listen to my heart. Or listen to my family. Help me!

 No it's not illegal in America, because there's no bloodlines tying you to that cousin. The only way you're related in through marriage.
As far as your family goes, they will probably disapprove of you dating him. Thus causing some problems in your family. Can you live with having a potential troubled relationship with your family? It's your parents' house, their rules.

I don't know what do American laws say about this but here in Spain it's legal.
And about who to listen... Well, I don't know what your family would say about it, but in my opinion, it's you and your cousin who have to be sure about it and not care about what other people say. It can be complicated, of course!, but if you love each other and want to be together you should just DO IT! :)

Our family wasn't all that upset about that since we were not blood related. His mom however was upset that i had just turned 18 and he was only 16. He was in the grade below me. We dated and everything seemed to go well. But before we started dating we sat down with our family and told them our feelings for each other and asked how they would feel about it. We are now both married to diffrent people but we are still very close. We see each other alot at family gatherings and he gets along pretty well with my hudband. I'm not real crazy about his wife but that is just cause i think he deserves better. She is kind of lazy and b*&chy

No. Not that I condone incest--but in most states in the US it isn't even illegal to marry first cousins.

 Well if you both love each other it's not illegal but otherwise if you make a move and she doesn't love you it's classed as rape.
