and what in the world do you need protecting from your friends for?
if a boy is jealous of male friends, he may have self-esteem issues, he may be insecure..
we need more info... are these 'ex" boyfriends of yours (I never do get the younger generations need to remain friends with ex partners)

 Unless he starts throwing full out tantrums because you're texting your friends, I don't think you need to worry.
A little jealousy is normal, and harmless. As long as he lets it go and gets on with his day and allows you to interact with your friends without giving you a hard time about it... you're good.
