writes:I've just moved from a mixed school to an all girls school, I used to have a crush on this guy who sat next to me, he said no after I asked him out, twice. So I gave up and moved on.About a week ago he asked me out, I didn't know if it was a joke, 'cause I'm shy and all the boys pick on me. My friend told me to say yes, so I did. He's been on holiday ever since so I haven't talked to him yet, except when he told me he loves me, I didn't know how to say I loved him too, 'cause it felt weird saying I love you to him.All my friends say it isn't a joke, but they said that every other time it has been. His friend said he didn't know. No-one's helping, I'm really shy so I can't ask him if its a joke. I think its a joke because I've only had a few boyfriends and I'm shy, ugly and not exactly skinny.He said I love you straight after I said yes. His friends were round his house at the time, so they could've been daring him to do that. They always did at school, so why wouldn't they now?I don't know if its a joke or not. What should I do?

 Chances are it's a joke, so I would reject him like he did you. He doesn't even know you and he's not even your boyfriend so how could he love you? I'm sure you're not ugly, we're often our own worse critic. Tell him no you don't want to go out with him. Nor do you love him, before the joke is on you.

1. Never call yourself something as crude and awful as "ugly", I know that isn't the issue at hand, but I needed to say it.
2. I know you're shy, but you just have to be straightofrward and keep a guard up. These boys seem like real jerks, and I wouldn't mix with them anyway even if he is serious.
